It will be times like tomorrow that I appreciate being 5'3 because if I've learned one thing about being below-average height it's that I can stand up underneath the luggage compartments in airplanes :) Therefore, I am perfectly 'travel sized.' Me and flying... we're just meant to be.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BA in English and a minor in Japanese, I am beginning a new adventure! In June 2010 I am returning to Japan to teach English in Yamaguchi-ken. So this is my roller coaster of mishaps sure to happen and triumphs along the way. Older posts cover my time from June to August 2009 as I volunteered for organic farms for the WWOOF program (Willing Workers on Organic Farms). Everywhere from Nara to Kobe!!

Almost lift-off
I'm getting up at the crack of dawn (4:30 am), stuffing my face, and then dragging my *packed* bag to the airport. Woohoo! I leave at 7:10 am to Salt Lake City, Utah. Then I get to walk around the airport for 3 hours and leave for... Honolulu! 7 hours later I will land on the wonderful island and walk around for another 3 hours before the last haul to Osaka. After 8 more hours of flying I will land at Kansai International Airport at 8:35 pm the next day. If you've just done the math in your head then yes, it is a 23 hour travel duration. Yay... Anyway, this airport is actually kind of fancy since it is a man-made island-airport. And, apparently the Kansai region is super proud of this fact...
