Since it was the first of the month, we went back to the family's temple for the worship service, basically. It was in the shrine behind the temple I was in the first time and we walked in late. I liked this better because there was two priestesses dancing and they were dressed in long white tops and sleeves, with long fire-red pants that went far over their feet. On their head they had beautiful head pieces and long black hair in a pony tail (you noticed it was fake when one girl's hair was dyed lighter and didn't match...) but it was fun to watch some traditional music too. Lunch was the weirdest thing I've eaten in my life. I think it was rice, everything is rice. But it wanted to be a dumbling, but it was somewhat marshmellow consistancy with syrup over it to carmelize it. Chewy, but hard on the outside, it also looked like it wanted to be an apple cobbler, maybe. Anyway, it was rich and I couldn't eat it all, but that's a horrible sin here so grandma bargained that if I ate one more chunk she would do the rest. I'm glad I didn't get sick from the richness.
Then we went to the special tofu store again, then to the farmers in the mountains where we buy our eggs by the gazillion. Long, but fun day. I like driving and seeing the scenery.
Today was spent doing 'posting' which is basically stuffing mailboxes. We stuffed in Nara and it took all afternoon, but Ogawa treated us to Starbucks on the way home. But my legs still hurt from the heavy bag and the walking all over. At least it was cloudy and maybe 70, finally a day where you don't sweat just standing.
